Welcome to inksprite!
Getting Help
Section titled “Getting Help”No need to create an account. Just create a story and start writing.
We’ve tried to make the app simple and intuitive enough that you shouldn’t need these docs to get started. If we’ve fallen short of that goal, the docs here provide an overview of most of the features.
If you’re stuck, run into a bug, or want to share feedback with us, you can find us on Reddit.
Open Beta
Section titled “Open Beta”inksprite is still in development, but we’ve reached a point where we think it’s stable enough to share with you.
We also need your feedback. When you run into bugs or encounter behavior that isn’t intuitive, let us know!
Why inksprite?
Section titled “Why inksprite?”inksprite was born out of dissatisfaction with the other writing tools. I found I was spending more time fiddling with settings and organization tools than I was actually writing. I wanted something intuitive that got out of my way so that I could find that elusive “flow” state.
So, in a fit of extreme writer’s procrastination, I decided to build a writing app instead of, well, actually writing.
As for why you should use inksprite — that’s up to you. Try it out and see if it works for you.
There are a few things that we think sets it apart though:
Simple and Intuitive
Section titled “Simple and Intuitive”inksprite is designed to minimize the time you spend thinking about how a story should be organized and written. Our belief is that the most productive and enjoyable part of writing is actually creating your story, not learning to use your tools.
Local First
Section titled “Local First”inksprite is a web app that runs in your browser, not on our servers.
You don’t need an account. You don’t need to sign in. You don’t even need an internet connection. Loading the page is the only time you’ll connect to our service.
No Restrictions
Section titled “No Restrictions”You can write whatever you want with inksprite. We have neither the tools or inclination to stop you.
inksprite is compatible with most AI services, including locally hosted models. This means that you aren’t subject to the mercurial “terms of use” of any one provider.
inksprite is free to use.
At some point we might add paid features, but we plan to keep the core functionality (a local writing app that runs in your browser) free.
